A leading defendant personal injury practice is seeking a talented Solicitor (2-5 PQE) to join its highly regarded complex injury team in Manchester, specialising in complex claims from a small number of key clients.
This is an outstanding opportunity to work on some of the most complex and high-value casualty claims in the market, alongside recognised experts in the field. The role would suit a lawyer with experience handling Employers’ Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) claims who is looking to develop their expertise in catastrophic injury litigation.
Small sub-team offering fantastic exposure to quality work
You will manage your own caseload of complex EL/PL matters while also supporting senior lawyers on multi-million-pound catastrophic injury claims. The team handles a broad range of serious and life-changing injury cases, offering exposure to technically challenging work and excellent opportunities for career progression.
This is a small team where you will work closely with Partners, Legal Directors and Senior Associates. You will gain experience across all stages of litigation, including strategy, liability investigations, expert evidence and trial preparation.

- Manage a caseload of complex EL and PL claims
- Assist on high-value catastrophic injury and large loss matters
- Draft pleadings, reports and instructions to counsel and expert witnesses
- Conduct legal research and advising on liability and quantum issues
- Attend conferences, client meetings and settlement discussions
- Develop relationships with insurer and corporate clients
- Contribute to business development and thought leadership initiatives

The team’s caseload includes:
- Complex Employers’ Liability and Public Liability claims
- Catastrophic and life-changing injury matters
- Serious burn injuries
- Assault, abuse and neglect claims
- Civil liability claims arising from terrorist incidents
- False imprisonment and malicious prosecution claims
Clients include leading global insurers and major corporate organisations across sectors including manufacturing, logistics and transport.
About you
- Qualified Solicitor with 2-5 years’ PQE
- Experience handling EL/PL claims, ideally on the defendant side
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Excellent drafting and communication abilities
- A genuine interest in complex injury and large loss litigation
- Claimant EL/PL experience will also be considered
