Bydand Recruitment has been instructed on an exciting opportunity for an experienced employment solicitor at Senior Associate or Legal Director level. The successful candidate may be based in any of the firm’s regional offices.

The opportunity

Our client is seeking a technically accomplished employment lawyer with demonstrable experience across contentious, advisory and transactional employment law work.

You will join a supportive and collaborative employment team, taking on substantial client responsibility and gaining exposure to a varied and high-quality caseload. The role offers the opportunity to advise a broad range of clients, develop strong internal and external relationships, supervise junior colleagues and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

Succession planning

There is also a strong element of succession planning to this role. The firm is looking for someone to help shape the UK offering, working with one of the lead partners in the employment practice group.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Advise a broad client base, including company owners and managers, HR professionals, in-house lawyers, public and private sector organisations, senior employees and executives
  • Advise on employee relations matters, including disciplinary proceedings and grievances
  • Manage Employment Tribunal cases, including whistleblowing and discrimination claims
  • Advise on dismissals, redundancies and business restructurings
  • Support corporate transactions and advise on TUPE matters
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Contribute to business development and the growth of the employment practice

Candidate profile

Candidates should be experienced in employment law from a reputable highly-regarded practice or boutique law firm. They should have demonstrable experience of contentious, non-contentious and transactional employment matters, together with the ability to manage a caseload and deliver practical, commercially focused advice.

The ideal candidate will also demonstrate:

  • A clear understanding of clients’ commercial needs and expectations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • A commitment to following appropriate professional guidelines and procedures

Candidates who do not meet every criterion but believe they can add genuine value to the team are encouraged to apply.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking for a serious step up in their career. Please apply or contact us for a confidential discussion.
