Claims Handler and Team Manager
Bristol | Full-time | Hybrid and flexible working | £25,000 – £50,000
One of our leading law firm clients is looking to make two appointments within its growing Claims Handling team in Bristol, which deals with a wide range of professional indemnity claims brought against professionals. The roles are as follows:
- Claims Handler – £25,000 to 35,000
- Team Manager – £35,000 to £50,000
These are excellent opportunities for experienced claims professionals to join a highly regarded international law firm and play an important part in the continued development of its insurance practice.
The team manages professional indemnity claims on behalf of leading insurers, arising from all aspects of professional practice. Neither role requires previous professional indemnity experience, though prior claims experience from an insurance background is required.
Claims Handler
This role is suited to an experienced claims handler who can manage a varied technical caseload. As above, candidates do not necessarily require professional indemnity experience. Our client is willing to consider candidates with a range of claims handling experience as long as they have a background in insurance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a full caseload of professional indemnity claims from notification to resolution
- Assessing policy coverage, liability and quantum
- Investigating claims, identifying gaps in information and determining an appropriate resolution strategy
- Making strategic decisions within delegated authority
- Reporting to insurers on matters falling outside delegated authority
- Negotiating settlements and approving settlement offers
You should have strong claims experience and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a consistently high standard of work.
Team Manager
The Team Manager will lead and develop a team comprising claims handlers at various levels of experience.
Alongside managing performance, resources and capacity, you will help shape the future of the department and embed high standards of technical delivery, customer service and team development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing, supervising and mentoring a team of claims professionals
- Monitoring performance, workloads, resources and capacity
- Building productive relationships with insurer clients and acting as a principal contact for assigned accounts
- Ensuring files comply with applicable service-level agreements and key performance indicators
- Overseeing the accurate operation of insurers’ delegated authority arrangements
- Maintaining the quality and integrity of management information
You will need considerable claims expertise, strong technical knowledge and previous line-management experience gained as a team leader, claims manager or in a comparable position.
You should be confident managing performance, developing people and building relationships with insurer clients. A proactive and commercially focused approach, together with the ability to improve systems and processes, will also be important.
Why join?
Both appointments offer the opportunity to join a growing and strategically important part of our client’s insurance practice. You will work with leading insurers, handle technically interesting claims and contribute to the future development of the team.
If you are a talented claims handler looking to further your career in the insurance sector, we would be interested in hearing from you. Please apply for more information.
