The complex injury team of one of our top nation firms is looking to recruit an experienced solicitor to strengthen the team’s Liverpool offering. The successful candidate will work directly with a Partner, advising key clients of the firm on high-value injury cases predominantly arising from Employers’ Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL), with some Road Traffic Accident (RTA) matters.

  • Work pattern: hybrid working 
  • Reports to: Partner
  • Expertise: Candidates should demonstrate defendant insurance experience though claimant experience will potentially be considered, depending on the candidate.

The Partners are open to considering a broad range of candidates. In particular, you should demonstrate:

  • Solid experience in complex injury or technical multi-track work.
  • Defendant insurance experience preferred, but claimant experience will be considered.
  • Strong team player with the ability to develop and maintain relationships.
  • Technical excellence coupled with commercial acumen.

Work undertaken by solicitors in the catastrophic injury team
  
The exact nature of the work you will undertake will depend on your level of PQE, but as a general guide.

  • Interview witnesses, draft statements, and prepare court documents including pleadings and applications.
  • Instruct counsel and attend conferences, Joint Settlement Meetings (JSMs), and mediations.
  • Manage a varied caseload of complex EL/PL cases, including brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, and fatal claims.
  • Build and maintain relationships with insurer clients.
  • Assist the Partner in drafting technical advice covering analysis on reserves, indemnity, liability, quantum, and causation issues.
  • Attend court proceedings in person or via telephone as required.
  • Delegate tasks to Paralegals and assist in their technical development.
